The Future of our Society

Several years ago, I read an essay written in Spanish by the famous Spanish organ builder Joaquin Lois de Cabello and posted on his website. However, my memory keeps coming back to that essay, because he mentions various points that I think are very important, but that are lost on our society. Because we have neglected them, our society is being destroyed, and we are not even aware.
So I have published a translation of the essay on my website here.
He does not just talk about the future of organ building, in Europe, but the our future. Indeed, what has made Canada and most nations of European descent (really nations of Hebrew descent) wonderful to live in is our inheritance of a religious and physical patrimony, that is the gift of our fathers of art and infrastructure. These things organize society to be beautiful, and therefore make them healthy for us to exist in them. However, I also know that this beautiful inheritance, our patrimony, is also hated and many try to destroy it. It is hated because many of those among us do not wish to give God the reverence and worship He deserves as our creator, but wish to live their life on their own terms. God permits this, but He will also permit them to be destroyed, if they do not repent and turn to Him. The patrimony is being rejected and destroyed as we speak, so there is an urgency to this message, which is why I have put it here where it may be found more widely. The patrimony was built up by our pious fathers to protect and nourish us, but it can only do that if it is protected and intelligently fostered. Therefore, the voices such as this of Joaquin Lois Cabello need to be heard and transmitted, to warn our people of the disaster they are permitting upon themselves by rejecting God's gift of Himself embedded in our beautiful inheritance that we are rejecting.
These days people talk about being "woke," but it is a sad joke. Those who presume to be "awake" usually are closed off to the existence of God, and therefore, are as far from awareness of the truth of how the world exists as they can be. Persistence of such a mental state is not neutral - being unaware of a danger that is faced does not commute the danger. So many are allowed to fall into damnation as Jesus predicted, following the broad and easy road. That is why we must continually speak out against the iconoclasm that is the rejection of our physical and artistic heritage in religion, lest we get caught up in the great calamity that is coming upon our people because of their disbelief.
So I think Joaquin Lois Cabello's essay is an important voice regarding this matter. He lived to see the renaissance of beauty in his hands through the restoration of beautiful Spanish organs start to become forgotten even in his own days. As the corpses dropped to the ground from Covid the same way the bodies of our ancestors dropped to the ground in the desert, he reflected upon his life's work, that of preserving the patrimony, and saw that everything he worked to preserve and nourish was being rejected. Still, he does not respond with anger, but the calm restraint of the runner nearing the end of a long and difficult race. After a lifetime of wisdom gained through suffering, and the patient turning of his hand to the exercise of the preservation and creation of beauty for our benefit, he prophecies to us what will become of our society if we do not continue his work. Many do not care about organs, but they form part of the gift of a society of beauty that we enjoy daily, and that is in the very near threat of being destroyed because we don't recognize the gift. So we should listen to our elders like Joaquin Lois Cabello, who have already lived among the wreckage of a cultural disaster that we will iminently again have to live, and do what we can to try to prevent that from happening.
What can we do to prevent that from happening? It is simple, repentance and the turning again in humility to God. The desecration of our inherited beauty is a symptom that as a society we are abandoning God. He permits this, but He will also punish us, since if He doesn't, then we can not be saved. If we do not listen to our ancestors who lived the punishment already, then the punishment cannot be reduced or removed from us. Many died by Covid, but also many refused to acknowledge that this plague was permitted by God to punish us for our sins. More and greater punishments will come unless as a nation we repent and turn again to God. So do not ignore the warnings of our ancestors! Repent and turn to God, and do so quickly!
